HalfHeart Terms and Conditions

Last updated 7 October 2026

The official version of this document is the one LazyByte Labs publishes at lazybyte.in/terms-and-conditions/halfheart. If this copy and the official version ever differ, the LazyByte Labs version applies.

Effective date: 6 October 2026
Last updated: 6 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and LazyByte (“we”, “us”) about your use of the HalfHeart app (“HalfHeart”, “the app”). They are published at https://lazybyte.in/terms-and-conditions/halfheart. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use HalfHeart.

1. Who can use HalfHeart

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must give accurate information when you create your account and keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
  • One person per account. Do not create an account for someone else or sign in as someone else.

2. What HalfHeart is

HalfHeart is a shared space for two partners. It includes:

  • The heart: each partner holds one half and can move it apart to show how much space they need, lock it for a set time, or change its colour to show how they feel.
  • Roses and the garden: roses grow in your garden over time, and you can send them to your partner, for example to shorten a lock.
  • The flower shelf: bouquets you arrange from roses you have received.
  • The timeline: a shared record of your moments as a couple.

HalfHeart is for fun and connection. It is not counselling, therapy, medical advice or an emergency service. It cannot resolve conflicts, and it is not a substitute for talking to your partner. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services.

3. Pairing with a partner

  • You can be paired with one partner at a time. You pair by sharing a code, which works for 24 hours and can be used once.
  • Only share your code with the person you mean to pair with.
  • Once paired, your partner can see your name, profile and what you do in the shared parts of the app, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Either partner can edit or delete any moment on the shared timeline.
  • If either partner deletes their account, the shared heart ends and the roses and timeline in it are deleted for both of you (see section 8).

4. How the app’s rules work

  • Locks are fixed. When you lock your half, it stays locked for the time shown (6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours or 3 days, depending on the level). You can undo a lock in the first 5 seconds. After that, only time or roses from your partner can open it, and we cannot unlock it for you.
  • Roses bloom on a schedule and have the effects shown in the app. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be transferred outside HalfHeart.
  • Received roses must be kept or given back within 3 days, after which they dry into your keepsakes.
  • We may adjust these rules, such as timings or rose effects, to keep the app fair and working well.

5. Purchases

HalfHeart is currently free and has no paid features. The rose shop shown in the app is a preview: it does not sell anything or take payment. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will update these terms first, and any purchase will be handled by the Google Play Store or Apple App Store under their terms.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use HalfHeart to harass, threaten, intimidate, monitor or control another person;
  • pair with someone without their knowledge or consent;
  • post content on your timeline or in bouquet names that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit involving minors, or violates someone else’s rights;
  • try to access another person’s account or data, or get around the app’s rules or limits;
  • interfere with, overload, reverse engineer or attack the app or its servers, except where the law allows it;
  • use the app for any commercial purpose or automated access without our permission.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

7. Your content

You own what you write in HalfHeart, such as timeline moments, notes and bouquet names. You give us permission to store, process and display it only so we can run the app for you and your partner. You are responsible for what you write, and you confirm you have the right to share it with your partner.

8. Ending your account

  • You can delete your account at any time in the app: You → Delete account. This is permanent. It deletes your data and ends the shared heart with your partner, including your shared roses and timeline for both of you, and your partner’s bouquets. Your partner keeps their account and can pair again.
  • We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering HalfHeart. Where reasonable, we will tell you first.

9. The app and our rights

HalfHeart, including its design, artwork, sounds and code, belongs to LazyByte and its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your devices for as long as you have an account and follow these terms. Some sound effects are used under free licences, which are credited in the app’s source materials.

10. Changes and availability

We may update, change or remove features, and we may stop offering HalfHeart, at any time. The app depends on internet access and third-party services such as Google Firebase, so it may sometimes be unavailable or delayed, and notifications may not always arrive. We are not responsible for delays caused by your device, network or these services.

11. Disclaimer

HalfHeart is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and we are not responsible for how you and your partner use it or for what happens in your relationship.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, LazyByte is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, goodwill or emotional distress arising from your use of HalfHeart. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim, which for a free app is zero.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the laws of your country.

13. App stores

If you downloaded HalfHeart from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, that store’s terms also apply. These terms are between you and LazyByte only, not Google or Apple. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of India, unless the law of your country gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version at the address above and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using HalfHeart after that, you accept the new terms.
