Everything inside HalfHeart
One shared heart, each of you holding one half. Here’s every way it helps you say how you feel, ask for what you need and find your way back to each other.

The heart
Pull your half away to say how much space you need
The main screen is a glossy, candy-like heart split in two. Each of you owns one half. Drag yours away and each level is a little further out, and needs a harder pull.
| Level | What letting go does | Your partner reads |
|---|---|---|
| Small tug | Springs back. Nothing happens. | – |
| Need a little space | No lock. Come back whenever you like. | “Sam needs a little space” |
| Hurt | Locks your half for 6 hours | “Sam is feeling hurt” |
| Angry | Locks for 12 hours | “Sam is upset” |
| Really angry | Locks for 24 hours | “Sam is really upset” |
| Need a long break | Hold “Really angry” for 2 seconds and it freezes: locks for 3 days | “Sam needs a long break” |
- While you drag, a jelly candy in the crack shows the level you’ve reached. It swells and trembles as the next level nears, then bursts into sprinkles
- A label above the heart says what letting go would do. Nothing is sent until you let go
- A new lock waits 5 seconds with an Undo before your partner hears about it
- Locks are fixed: not even the person who locked can come back early. Only time, or roses from their partner, open a lock
- While a lock runs, the locked half slowly creeps back towards the other, and the heart turns to frozen amethyst glass
- Coming back from a lock adds a moment like “Made up after 9 hours” to your timeline. The fights themselves are never recorded
Colours
Show how you feel, and how they can help
Swipe your half up and five candy colours fan out. Slide to one and let go, or tap “Change my colour”. Colour is how you feel; distance is what you need from your partner.

Roses
Roses that bring each other back
Roses grow in your garden on their own schedule. Pick them and send them to your partner, and they take time off a lock.
White rose
Blooms every day
Takes 2 hours off
Yellow rose
Blooms every week
Takes 12 hours off
Red rose
Blooms every month
Ends the lock straight away
Pink rose
Blooms every year
Ends the lock straight away, “with a little magic”
- A received rose stays fresh for 3 days. Keep it, or give it back to the sender’s garden
- After 3 days it dries into your keepsakes
- While the heart is whole, your roses float around it. Tap one to send it straight to your partner
- Roses are never for sale: there’s nothing to buy in HalfHeart

3D garden
A small moonlit island that grows your roses
Each colour of rose grows on its own plant: yellow and red in stone beds, white climbing an arbour, pink under a glass cloche. A rose opens as it grows and glows once it can be picked.
- Tap a glowing rose to snip it into your basket, with a snip, a whoosh and a pop
- Fresh roses from your partner wait in a pail by the gate
- The garden follows the heart: lanterns and fireflies while it’s whole, dimmer while a half drifts, frost and snow while one is locked
- Drag to look around, pinch to zoom, double-tap to come back
- Every rose is grown in code, petal by petal on a golden-angle spiral, from bud to full bloom
- Prefer a list? Switch views any time. Phones without 3D support get the list view
Flower shelf
Turn the roses you keep into bouquets
A 3D shelf of bouquets you arrange from the roses your partner sent you. Bouquets dry along with their roses, like the real thing.
Up to 12 stems per bouquet, from the roses your partner sent you
A glass vase, mason jar, milk jug or paper wrap
Pick a ribbon and a shape (round, cascade or wild) and give it a name
Tap a bouquet to read the story of each rose: who sent it, and when
Private unless you share it. Shared, your partner can visit but not change it

Sound & touch
Made to be felt
Every moment has its own sound and vibration.
- Pulling your half ticks, rising in pitch as it goes
- Each new level pops its candy, with a crack and a strong buzz at the first level that locks
- Freezing into a long break chimes like frosting glass
- Letting go past the middle snaps the thread and clicks a padlock shut
- A half coming home lands with a juicy pop; a whole heart brings a chime, a burst of hearts and a lub-dub vibration
Sounds can be muted with one button (vibrations stay). They mix with your music and respect the iPhone silent switch. With “reduce motion” on, the heart keeps its glow but stops wobbling and throwing particles.
